These Great Achievers Were Once Considered Unintelligent

Some were downright academically poor whereas others made consistently poor grades because they were simply not serious with their academics; they seemed a hopeless bunch. A couple of years down the line, I am more than impressed by what they have made of their lives. I look at their lives now but see no correlation between what they once were and what they are now. As a matter of fact, it will seem as though such individuals have always been smart, intelligent, serious-minded and purpose driven.             When the names of some of the world`s great achievers are mentioned, many assume these persons were actually geniuses from childhood. ...

What Great Achievers Do That The Mediocre Do Not

Just keep trying”-Bear Grylls If the little baby who kept falling as he or she attempted walking had quit trying, such a baby would probably never have learned to walk. It is common knowledge that babies eventually learn how to walk after several falls; the falling is part of the process of learning to walk. You are not a failure because you failed. You are a failure if you quit trying.             In the pursuit of worthwhile goals and aspirations, there are the lows and the highs. There are times you may succeed. There are also times you may fail. In the scheme of things, the employer expects a certain level of productivity from the employee. In some quarters, there are performance indicators and quotas. The sad reality, however, is that, for one reason or the other, some employees who definitely are skilled, competent and well qualified for the job over time develop some sort of a lackadaisical attitude towards work and only put up their best when they are under the watchful eyes of supervisors. Some hitherto efficient employees attend to their daily tasks with a less than appropriate attitude and this impact negatively on their productivity. The reverse is the case with emp...

Are Recruitment Agencies in Ghana the Job Seekers Friend or Foe?

Image
That unemployment is one of the major challenges that has bedeviled this country for decades is not in doubt. The increasing numbers of unemployed graduates is a very troubling reality. Governments over the years have done their bit to help create more job opportunities for unemployed graduates. Truth be told, relatively little success has been chalked in this exercise. The stark reality is that, the nation`s tertiary institutions are continually churning out significant numbers of graduates whereas the job market is not expanding that fast. In other words, there are more graduates than there are jobs. Intense competition and the ‘whom you know’ or better still ‘who knows you’ syndrome holds sway.             Another critical factor is that, many graduates simply do not know where or how to find these relatively few job opportunities. This is where recruitment agencies come in. What they essentially do  among  others ...
